custom car stereo

Custom Car StereoWriten by Jason Gluckman

In-car entertainment, especially an audio system, is one of the most customized components in an automobile. Many aficionados opt to replace their stock in-car audio system to add and improve functionality as well as enhance the sound quality for a superb audio experience inside the vehicle. Today, customizing car stereo systems has become a big business. Most enthusiasts want to build an excellent car audio system regardless of the cost. Customizing car stereos can be a very expensive project, but for those who value good acoustics, it is worth every penny.

When customizing a car audio system, the first component you should purchase is the head unit or the deck. The head unit is the main control center of the entire audio system, which usually includes a tuner, CD player, cassette player or a combination of these. Usually, the replacement head unit will not fit into the space where the existing unit rests, so you may have to buy a universal mounting kit. A universal wiring harness is also necessary to ensure easy installation.

Then you need to determine the kind of speakers you want. There are numerous types of speakers you can choose from, making it a bit difficult to make a decision. Be aware of how many speakers your head unit can handle. Two important things to check when buying speakers are power rating and size. Some owners prefer to put speakers in the trunk space.

Another important device in audio systems is the amplifier, which significantly improves the quality of the high volume sound of your system. The amp comes in a variety of sizes and capacities. Choose your amplifier depending on how much power you want for your sound system. Other accessories you can purchase include MP3 integration adapters, multiple CD changers, and bass boosters.

All these devices are available from audio equipment retailers. How much you spend depends on the brand and the quality of the equipment. When it comes to installation, it is better if you get the assistance of a professional to ensure that your custom car stereo is mounted and wired properly for best performance.

bad credit auto refinance

Bad Credit Auto RefinanceWriten by Seth Miller

Bad credit auto refinancing is a relatively easy process. There is still a large possibility for getting auto refinances even when the applicant has a bad credit standing. In the end, the results may be as beneficial as a good credit auto refinance.

The idea of providing auto refinancing even to those with bad credit standing came with the lenders realization that the reasons for having such a credit standing are oftentimes out of control. But this is not to say that all lenders no longer filter who among the applicants with bad credit standing are eligible for auto loan refinancing. Depending on the history they have gathered regarding the applicant with a bad credit standing, lenders may choose to deny or approve the auto loan refinancing. The information they collect usually includes the financial history of the applicant. They also analyze trends of both national and international financial records to determine the types of reasons that make certain applicants incapable of paying of their bills. All these information are accumulated to rate each applicant; the scores given to them will determine their eligibility for auto refinancing.

For applicants with bad credit standing, it is advisable not to open new or close existing accounts. This could be counted as a demerit and could disqualify them from getting an auto loan refinancing. It would be better to focus on spreading the debts across these accounts or eliminating a fraction of these debts. It would also be better to determine their cars value. This way, it would be easier for them to gauge if the auto refinance benefits they could get are really worth it. To ensure that they will still get the best offer despite their bad credit standing, it would also help to research available lenders. While the applicants current lender may be open to refinancing their auto loan, there may still be other lenders who can offer better deals. The criteria should be a lender that can give the lowest interest rates while refinancing the smallest amount possible. The optimum combination of these two conditions can result to the lowest monthly payments for the applicant.

cargo liner essentials and information

Cargo Liner Essentials and InformationWriten by Matthew Keegan

The proliferation of available pick up trucks on the market has yielded quite a few useful aftermarket accessories to enhance the ownership experience. Trucks from Ford, Chevrolet/GMC, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda are all being marketed to businesses as well as to individuals who prize the versality of these types of vehicles. If you own a pick up truck, more than likely you extensively use the cargo bed as you transport wood, gravel, home supplies, or other heavy duty items. To protect your cargo bed from damage, quality custom made cargo liners offer ample protection for your vehicle that no off the shelf product can possibly equal. Let's take a look at some key features that make custom made liners a smart buy.

Liners from Husky are among the select brands on the market offering premium protection for your SUV or truck as they made to exacting specifications to produce the following importaint characteristics:

Every liner is designed to the precise specifications of your vehicles cargo bed. There is no one-size-fits-all style made.

Custom liners are produced from tough polyethylene materials to stay supple in a variety of weather conditions: from summer's intense heat to winter's extreme cold.

High quality liners contain molded-in tread patterns that grips onto cargo. This means that whatever you decide to place in the back of your truck will not shift around.

Many custom made liners not only cover the bed bottom but the interior sides as well.

Able to resist moisture including snow, ice, hail, sleet, and rain; can properly contain mud, dirt, gas, oil, even battery acid.

Quality cargo liners are available in three important colors: gray, black, and tan to match or pleasantly contrast just about any vehicle produced.

In addition, not like off the shelf models, custom made cargo liners are thicker, much more able to resist abuse, and even have a better look to them. Since you paid a lot of money for your vehicle, why would you select a product that is costly, won't last, and looks terrible? Instead, choose a custom designed cargo liner that is certain to hold up over time, through a variety of conditions, and still look great years later.

Finally, a cargo liner will add value to your truck. Once time comes for you to trade in your truck for the latest model, your cargo liner will be credited with helping you maximize your trade in value: no scratches, dents, or dings thanks to your properly fitted custom cargo liner!

wondering what to do with that old car why not donate it

Wondering What To Do With That Old Car, Why Not Donate It?Writen by Gregg Hall

How many cars do you have in the driveway? One, two, maybe more? Do you use them all? Are they all really necessary? While it may seem that you need each car, it may be that having more than one is actually costing you more than you think.

Consider how much the insurance is costing you on that second car. Couldn't that money be better spent elsewhere? Do you have children? Will they be going to college? The money that you are spending on insurance could be saved for a college education. College isn't getting any cheaper; in fact, the prices are climbing more every year.

Here is a crazy idea, why not donate a car to a charitable organization?

Are you too busy to try to sell the car?

Is there any use for the old car?

There are organizations that would be willing to tow it away for you for the donation.

What are the incentives to donating a car?

Helping people in need (obviously).

An excellent chance that you could write off the resale value of the car as a tax deduction.

The organization would more than likely be very willing to let you know what price they received for the car when they sold it.

You in turn, would supply this information to the person who does your taxes so it could be put in your tax return.

In other words, this helps you as well as the organization.

A car donation works basically the same as any other donation with the exception that the organization will sell the car and then use the money that they receive for the car for something good. The organizations can be for anything. They can be cancer organizations, homeless organizations, Make a Wish type organizations, etc.

When you donate the car it is considered a donation for what the current Kelley Blue Book value is. The mileage is also considered in the value of the car. When you donate the car the organization will give you a receipt for the car with the current Blue Book value on the receipt. This helps in showing that the donation was a legitimate donation especially if the name and address of the organization is on the receipt. Another situation where a couple of bad apples have spoiled the whole bunch, some people have made up deductions so it is always a good idea to have proof.

If the person would sell the car and get more than the Blue Book value for the car they would have to report that as a gain and then report that on their taxes and actually have to pay taxes on that gain. But, if the person would get less than the Blue Book value the person would not be able to report that as a loss unless of course they were in the business of selling cars. In other words, a car salesman could report that as a loss but a grocery store owner could not.

is your car finish being eaten away

Is Your Car Finish Being Eaten Away?Writen by K.M. Dodd

Washing Your Car Regularly.. Why?

Aside from the obvious of having a car that looks great, car washing can protect the cars finish. Bird droppings and bug splatter can get to be real relentless at different times. Also air bourne contaminant( some we can't even see), all wage a consistent and prolonged attack on your cars finish.

Bug splatter for instance, have acids and particles in them that can eat away at the clearcoat of your car, making it susceptible to rust. The metallic particles that come off the rotor as well as brake dust with its adhesive properties from the factory, and tar, all do damage to your cars paint.

So how can we stop the culprits right in there track, by washing our vehicles regularly!

How and Where To Start

I don't know if you knew this or not, but most of the swirl marks we see on our car is from washing the car. I know you have seen one of those dark colored cars that look real good at a 30000 ft view. However when you get up close it is riddled with swirl marks. They kinda look like cookies.

Why this knowledge is important is that it helps us all to realize, that even though washing a car seems so simple, What is often overlooked is that there is a right and a wrong way to do it. That is the first place to start is with this understanding.

I like to start out by finding products that will not scratch the paint. I use a chenille wash mitt, or a microfiber one. They both do a great job at pulling the dirt away from the paint and holding it in there fibers so that it does not scratch the paint.

Please don,t use dish washing liquid to wash your car with, why? Dish detergent has properties in it that strip the paint of the oils it needs to keep from drying out. So use a good car wash shampoo to wash the car with. I use Meguiars Soft Gel, its ph balanced with no detergents, and has lubricants in it that bring out the gloss in the paint finish.

Washing the Car

Because I do not want those swirl marks on my car, or any car I work on. I use more than one bucket to do my car washing. I recommend to do it that way if you can, cause after you make a pass with the wash mitt its gona be dirty. Instead of constantly washing with the water hose, just dip it in the bucket of fresh water to remove the dirt then back in the soapy water.

With that said, as always I like to wet down the car real good with water to remove what I can before I start car washing and you should too, it gets of some the dirt that I would otherwise have to.(I know call me lazy) Also before you suds away, this is a good time to remove any bugs and tar using a bug and tar remover. Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover is the way to go here.

Then begin by cleaning and doing the Wheels and Tires. I have written an article on that for you, so if you want to start with the article before moving on.

Using a soapy sponge, and with the car wet down apply the bug and tar remover going over the car until you get all those unsitely trouble spots. After you are finished, rinse area with water.

Starting at the Top of the vehicle go ahead start to wash the car, taking a moment between passes to rinse the car off, as you work your way down from the top to the moldings.

Remember clean the wash mit often in order to keep as much dirt as possible, from being introduced back on to the paint. While car washing be sure to get the door jams, the area outlining the trunk and up under the hood in that hood pocket outlining the engine.

Its important to wash the car completely from top down, as the bottom is alway the dirtiest, as well as under the hood area so do those last. Preferably with a different Wash mit either way remember not to introduce a dirty wash mit back on to the paint.

Drying The Car

I like to use a Dual Pile Microfiber towel to dry the car with. Starting with the windows first, go ahead and dry the car off. Then after you get the windows. Start drying from top down like you washed the car. Do the door jams, and Trunk lid, and under the hood, after you have dried all the other panels of the car like we talked about.

That way we continually eliminate the chance for scratches and swirl marks while you are car washing. If washing the car in the sunlight try not to let the water dry on you, or it will leave water spots. So do the car washing out of direct sunlight if at all possible.

proper car care includes rust protection and treatment

Proper Car Care Includes Rust Protection and TreatmentWriten by David Maillie

The average car now costs over $30,000. The average monthly car payment is now $430 and the loans are near 6 years long on average. With taxes, fees and insurance thrown in the average monthly cost of a car is similar to that of a mortgage payment. Being that we are spending this much on our cars we need to take a renewed look at car care and treatments that will increase the longevity of these major investments. Sadly, many people neglect their cars and there is little, if any, car care done. Rust can happen anywhere in America (it isnt just a problem for northerners). It is also easy to prevent with a little proper car care.

Everyone hates rust and complains about it, but when you look at their cars, little if anything is ever done to stop or prevent it. As evidenced in clinical studies and research by the big 3 auto manufacturers, its not a question of if. Its a question of when. Whether it is salt and snow, salty ocean air, industrial fallout and acid rain, rock chips, road debris, etc There are many different elements of nature that exist everywhere and will do harm and weaken your cars finish and allow rust to start. The metal on your car is mostly protected by a very thin coating of paint and primer. Rust is caused by a loss in electrons of the metal and can occur as soon as the thin paint coating is jeopardized.

First, to prevent rust it is best to protect your paint. Proper car care will not only protect, but strengthen the paint. A good cleaning and waxing regimen once every two months has been proven by AAA to greatly reduce the occurrence of rust. Regular cleaning will remove contaminates that will weaken or even etch into the paint. Car wax or car polish will create a stronger, slippery surface that will be more impervious to the elements and help seal out moisture which can start the rusting process. To properly apply car wax or car polish you apply it one section at a time and allow to dry to a haze. Then you buff it off and repeat 2 3 times for maximum protection. People who regularly use car wax or car polish in their car care routine have a much lower incidence of rust.

If you notice a scratch or chip, nick that goes through the paint make sure you treat it properly. Get matching touchup paint by using the paint code inside your door jamb (most auto parts stores and dealers will have this matching paint or can get it for you). You will only need a small 1 oz. bottle for most scratches. Use a toothpick so you get the paint exactly where it is needed, in the scratch, nick, etc not all around it. Completely cover any exposed metal. Then apply a clear coat touch up paint for best protection. This will seal out moisture and prevent rust from occurring. If you are in a jam you can always use clear nail polish to cover the exposed metal.

If rust has set in, then the required car care and treatment gets more complex. The rust spot must be sanded down and exposed. It is then treated with a anti-rust which will chemically react with the rust changing its chemical and electrostatic properties. Then it must be sanded down, primered and then painted. With the complexity of todays automotive paints it is probably best to leave complex rust and car care to the professionals (most auto body shops will be glad to do this for you and you will have guaranteed excellent and long lasting results). As it is said, You get what you pay for. A cheap repair is just that, and for the same matter, so is cheap or non-existant car care.

Rust can be prevented and your cars finish maintained with a little proper car care and the use of car wax or polish.

finding car parts

Finding Car PartsWriten by Jeff Lakie

Whether you are a backyard mechanic looking for inexpensive car parts to fill your customers' orders, or you own a body shop, or even a chain of body shops, you need to find car parts. However, car parts can be very expensive and can really bring down your profit margin. Especially, as a backyard mechanic, if you are fixing cars for family and friends with a pre-set expectation of a price range, expensive car parts can steal the few dollars you might expect to make for your trouble.

EBay can help you find inexpensive car parts. Using eBay, or some other online auction, you will likely be able to find most of the parts you're looking for at a reasonable cost. And it's a lot of fun. Here's how it works:

You'll need to sign up with eBay and with Paypal, since many people who post on eBay require payment through Paypal. It doesn't cost anything to sign up with either one of these.

Go onto eBay and search for the parts you're looking for. You might be able to find them on the main site at eBay.com (or eBay.ca if you live in Canada) or you can go directly to eBay motors, which is an automotive-specific sister site to eBay.

You can browse by the make and model of vehicle, and you may even find an entire vehicle that you can use for parts if need be.

Once you have found the kind of vehicle parts you're looking for, you'll want to make sure that you are purchasing the auto parts from a reputable seller. You can do this by looking at their feedback, which eBay posts from previous buyers. You'll also want to make sure that they ship to your area. For example, if you are buying auto parts from the US, but you live in Canada, you'll need to make sure that they ship to Canada.

Once you are satisfied that you are purchasing from a reputable buyer and that they will deliver the parts to you, you can place a bid by clicking on the id button.

Part of the fun of purchasing on eBay is to watch the auction draw to a close. If someone bids higher than you, you will need to re-bid on it again if you want another chance to own it.

When the auction closes and you find that you have won, you will need to make arrangements with the seller for payment and shipping. Payment is easy with Paypal, all you need is the seller's e-mail address. Once your payment has been processed, the seller will send you the car part you bought.

The main advantage of using eBay is that it is a fun way to get parts affordably. The main disadvantage is the time factor: For example, you could bid on a part and lose it moments before the auction closes. Still, for the amount of money you could save, this might be a worthwhile option.
